See Bob O'Connor's article, "Logistics Man at Gettysburg", that appeared in The Washington Times on November 17, 2007.

Book Two, The Virginian Who Might Have Saved Lincoln, was published in May 2007.

It features Ward Hill Lamon, who was born near what is present day Summit Point, WV and grew up in Bunker Hill, WV. His cabin, where he lived in the 1830s, still exists.

Lamon moved to Danville, IL when he was 18 years old and became Abraham Lincoln’s law partner. When Lincoln was elected President, he asked Lamon to go to Washington with him.

Ward Hill Lamon became a U.S. Federal Marshal in the District of Columbia and was self-appointed as Lincoln’s personal bodyguard.

This fascinating story takes you on the train to Washington and the sneaking of Lincoln into Washington in the middle of the night -- to the Republican National Convention in Chicago where Lincoln was nominated -- to Fort Sumter where Lamon visited as an envoy to Lincoln just prior to the beginning of the Civil War -- and to the dedication of the National Cemetery in Gettysburg where Lamon was in charge of the entire ceremony.

You get to know one of Lincoln’s closest friends, Ward Hill Lamon, the man who dared go against Robert Lincoln’s wishes and write a book about his father.

And you’ll wonder where Ward Hill Lamon, bodyguard to Abraham Lincoln, was on Good Friday when Lincoln attended the fateful play at Ford’s Theater.

Book Three, Catesby -- Eyewitness to the Civil War, is coming next. Catesby is a real person, a slave of Colonel Lewis Washington, who was captured in the John Brown raid in 1859 in Harpers Ferry. This historical novel follows Catesby throughout the Civil War.
